I’ve been pretty quiet with cosplay images because I’m buckling down on projects for Katsu. A couple weekends ago, I took advantage of the warm weather and took some photos of me in my Deedlit costume. TresWildCosplay took the photos, after I put the correct settings on the camera, and I edited them as well.

My Sailor Venus costume at Otakon! Even though I didn’t wear it long because of the heat, I was still very happy to cosplay a childhood icon, especially after the announcement of the new anime (so excited!). Expect more Sailor senshi costumes out of me in the future. I want to perfect making these!

Here’s a preview of me as Deedlit at Otakon this past weekend. This is by far my most comfortable cosplay. A simple breezy dress and flat shoes makes for a happy cosplayer :] Thanks to NPDU Photography for this lovely shot! http://www.flickr.com/photos/npdu/

Deedlit armor progress, along with the green fabric I got for my dress! I find painting very relaxing and it’s one of my favorite things to do for cosplay. I decided to go ahead and show how vast the difference can be, from a flat base coat to added texture and shadow. A bit of shadow and distressing makes a big difference and makes for a better end product. The top pieces demonstrate added shadow and distressing with brown acrylics. The bottom image on the left is gold acrylic with rub n’ buff added and the image on the right is the gold acrylic base.
Umi kneepads! So, I started work on a new Umi cosplay. I really enjoy painting these armor pieces. They’re definitely not done yet, though. The cast jewels are just placeholders to give everyone an idea of what these pieces should look like in the end. I’ll have to cast larger ones.
I created these armor pieces using a paper mache method along with craft foam details. More information on paper mache armor can be found in this tutorial by FireLily cosplay.

I love my Umi costume so much! I feel so elegant and statuesque. I’m also paying tribute to one of my favorite artists. I’m a huge fan of Alphonse Mucha and Umi is my favorite of the three main girls, so when I saw this in one of my MKR artbooks I absolutely had to make it.

Photo of our Cowboy Bebop group at Katsucon. We had a blast cosplaying together. Also, I’m totally proud of what Tres Wild Cosplay did with our Spike’s wig, which is why I decided to post this photo. I’m awful at creating “messy” hairstyles (I’m a bit on the cautious perfectionist side), so she took over for me. I think the end result is pretty awesome.

I asked Anna if we could try getting some shots showcasing the bustle of my Freya costume because you generally can’t see it very well in most photos. I really like what we came up with. Thanks, Anna!

I’m so proud of how this costume turned out! I’ve wanted to make this artbook Freya costume for a while and decided Katsucon would be an awesome con to debut it at because I figured the color palette of the costume would look lovely in the venue space. Construction notes can be found here.
